(Late) Songs from 2015

I started working on my list of favorite songs from 2016 and realized I never posted the list from last year. So here are nine* songs I loved from last year.

Courtney Barnett – Pedestrian at Best

Put me on a pedestal and I'll only disappoint you
Tell me I'm exceptional, I promise to exploit you
Give me all your money, and I'll make some origami, honey
I think you're a joke, but I don't find you very funny

Diet Cig – Dinner Date

And you know I’m scared
Like a third grader on a triple dog dare

Jason Isbell – 24 Frames

You thought God was an architect, now you know
He's something like a pipe bomb ready to blow
And everything you built that's all for show goes up in flames
In twenty- four frames

Leon Bridges – Coming Home

Baby, how I'd be grieving
If you wanted to leave me all alone now
By myself, I don't wanna party anywhere else
The world leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, girl
You're the only one that I want

Madisen Ward And the Mama Bear – Silent Movies

How bout we just sing forever?
Bring your hands, close together

Baby, ah, baby

Natalie Prass – It Is You

Broken bells, try to chime
Guitar with no strings
Pearls in the sink
That will never see rings
All the answers in the world
They need a reason to be true
It is you

PWR BTTM – 1994

Haven't seen your face since 1994
It feels like nothing
These days it pays to be so strange
And I'm like nothing

Sufjan Stevens – John my Beloved

So can we pretend sweetly
Before the mystery ends?
I am a man with a heart that offends
With its lonely and greedy demands
There's only a shadow of me in a manner of speaking I'm dead

Villagers – Courage

The sweet relief of knowing nothing comes for free

*I picked nine because that makes a nice perfect square collage.
