Two Summer Publications

Two Summer Publications

In the last month I’ve had two firsts published. I wrote an article for The Oregonian about racism in the Portland theatre community. It was a beast of an article to write, several interviews, followed by more interviews. But I’m pleased with how it turned out. Also, as a reminder, journalism should cost money because doing journalism takes up a lot of time.

I also did my first graphic novel review for Oregon ArtsWatch. I reviewed Sarah Mirk’s Guantanamo Voices. It was a new kind of review for me, but a lot of fun. There was a surprising overlap with my experience reviewing theatre, thinking about visuals of the page is like thinking about the staging of a play.
